The SOMA Breath Energized Meditation Routine is a 1-hour long workshop combining movement, chanting and breathwork all guided with uplifting, music. It is designed to help participants become very efficient at using oxygen, and to build a tolerance to carbon dioxide.
Energized Meditation helps people to slow down their breathing to less than 10 breaths per minute, and encourages people to breathe through their nose more. The Energized Meditation Routine is designed to release tension from the body, boost your mood, and be a super-effective breathwork meditation.

Breathwork is a simple, powerful practice that uses guided breathing techniques combined with music and visualisation to help calm the mind, release stress, and support mental and emotional wellbeing. In this lunchtime session, we’ll explore how breathing techniques can boost mental clarity, reduce anxiety, and create a sense of inner peace.
What to expect:
• Gentle, guided breathing techniques: We’ll go step-by-step, with easy-to-follow exercises suitable for all levels
• Mental health support: Breathwork can be a valuable tool for feeling more grounded and centred. Together, we’ll practice techniques to manage stress, boost mood, and support mental wellness
• A relaxing and supportive space: Come as you are! This is a welcoming space to relax, connect, and explore new ways to care for your mental health and wellbeing
• Community connection: As we breathe together in a group, we’ll share a powerful, uplifting experience that leaves you feeling balanced and recharged
Please bring a yoga mat (or something to lie down on) and blanket to get cosy and wear comfortable clothes. Cash payment in person is preferred. Find us at The Lounge, St Mary’s Welcome Centre, 8 Church End, E17 9RJ (the building adjacent to the church).

Contraindications & safety precautions
Slow rhythmic breathing techniques are safe to be to be used for anyone and can be beneficial for all individuals. However, forceful mouth breathing, prolonged breath holds and extended intense fast breathwork or hyperventilation for more than 5 minutes, should NOT be practiced in the case of any of the following:
• If you are pregnant
• Active flu or fever
• Severe/critical diseases or infections if it impairs your ability to breathe
• Severe uncontrolled hypertension (usually after a heart attack)
• Organ failure or late-stage terminal illness
• If you have epilepsy, a pacemaker, or irregular heartbeat (except if your doctor gives you specific permission)
• Some conditions (such as tinnitus or hernias) may be aggravated by forceful mouth breathing, prolonged breath holds and prolonged, intense, rapid breathing or hyperventilation, and careful attention to technique is required
If you have any of these, you are welcome to join the class but please avoid the breath holds, you will still feel great!
Please avoid eating in the 2 hours before class (tuck into your lunch afterwards!).
