What is breathwork?
Breathwork involves a variety of breathing exercises and techniques designed to improve mental, emotional, and physical well-being. We consciously control the breath to influence the body’s physiological and emotional states. Breathwork, or conscious breathing, has been embraced by elite athletes worldwide, including the England Rugby and football teams, and some of the world’s top athletes. Novak Djokovic has stated that mastering conscious breathing is the number one thing athletes can do to boost their performance.
What are the main benefits of breathwork?
The benefits of the SOMA breathwork technique are vast, ranging from improved sleep quality, quicker recovery after workout, to simply being more present in the moment

What to expect on the day
In honour of Men's Mental Health Awareness month I am creating a safe space for men to experience a unqiue and transformative workshop. In this session you will learn healthy breathing techniques to explore your inner world.
Reconnect with Inner Strength
In today’s fast-paced world, men carry immense responsibilities, which can lead to stress, burnout, and a disconnection from their core strength. Breathwork allows you to tap into a grounded, authentic strength—not the kind that comes from “muscling through,” but from a deep, balanced state of inner power.
Clarify Life Purpose
Men are often expected to “know” what they’re aiming for in life, but the demands of everyday life can cloud this clarity. Through breathworkyou will explore intentions, values, and long-term goals without distractions. It’s an invitation to discover (or rediscover) what truly drives you, opening up a path toward more meaningful choices.
Develop Presence and Mindfulness
Presence—being fully engaged in the moment—is a powerful skill that can improve focus, relationships, and personal fulfillment. Breathwork enhances presence by anchoring you in the here and now, making it easier to navigate both daily interactions and larger challenges with greater calm and confidence.
A Supportive, All-Male Space
Sharing this experience with other men can foster a sense of camaraderie, safety, and mutual understanding. Being around men with similar goals can encourage deeper insights and provide a unique support system.
A Reset for Mind, Body, and Spirit
This class provides a powerful way to reconnect with oneself, develop a clearer sense of direction, and cultivate the calm and clarity needed to lead a fulfilling life.
Important Information
Rhythmic breathing is safe for everyone but there are some instances where we would recommend not doing the breath retention sequences, this includes:
• Severe/ critical diseases or infections if it impairs your ability to breathe.
• Severe uncontrolled hypertension (usually after a heart attack)
• Organ failure or late-stage terminal illness
• Pregnancy
• Epilepsy, a pacemaker or irregular heartbeat (exception your doctor gives you permission)
• Some conditions e.g. tinnitus and hernia can be aggravated by the breath holds, but not common, in this circumstance we recommend minimising the duration of the breath holds. Using a chin lock if seated is also recommended.
