Sexual Energy

Pelvic floor pulse

Contracting the pelvic floor muscles on the in-breath acts like a pump activating the root chakra (Muladhara) and the sexual energy from the sacral chakra (Svadhisthana) throughout the rhythmic breathing process.

The gradual progression of the experience, through repetition of the routine over the session, can create a strong gamma wave stimulation and heightened ecstatic states of consciousness.

Powerful emotional releases can occur, negative imprints from the past can be cleared, and what we call ‘divine downloads’ that are moments of deep insight and moments of inspirations makes this experience truly unforgettable.

Pelvic Lock – Mula Bandha

This is actually an ancient Yoga practice in which you are ‘applying a lock’.

The direct translation from Sanskrit is, ‘Mula’ meaning root, and ‘Bandha’ meaning lock or binding. Essentially, we are contracting the muscles that are found in our pelvic floor area, specifically the perineum, which when engaged will activate our root chakra (muladhara), which is located at the base of the spine, the pelvic floor, and the first three vertebrae.

The perineum is the area situated between our anus and genitals.

For many, isolating this area to contract can be challenging, people will either visualise or contract the whole area including the sphincter and genitals (the contraction when trying to stop urine flow).

Some may only be able to visualise this happening. This is ok at first but with practice they should be able to eventually isolate the perineum area.

Breathing In Beats With The Mula Bhanda

As we now know, rhythmic breathing is already in itself extremely powerful. In SOMA, we are multiplying that power with the harnessing and transmutation of Sexual Energy.

By squeezing the pelvic floor muscles on each inhale, and releasing it on the exhale, we are tapping on this energy and accumulating it. The sensitivity develops over time, so it’s ok to remind your students to keep up with the practice.

Eventually, this becomes like a “feel good button” that one can press at anytime and feel, really, really good. Even ecstatic!
